About

Santiago Del Pozo was born in Madrid in 1978 but his paternal roots come from a small village in Castilla La Mancha. This allowed him to be in contact with nature and discover his passion for observing and trying to understand the environment around him.
From a very early age, her mother passed on to him a taste for art in all its manifestations and it soon became another of his passions, using it as a natural way of communicating and expressing his inner world.
He studied Fine Arts at the Complutense University of Madrid and specialised in painting, engraving and printing. Interested in new technologies, he took a Master’s degree in graphic design, final art, animation and web programming, incorporating digital tools into his classical training. After almost a decade of dedicating himself to graphic design, he decided to travel to Scotland, an experience that would mark him forever. It was in this country where he took the time to reconnect with nature, exploring its landscapes through routes that took him from the lowlands to the highlands and from the east coast to the west coast, passing through its islands. His time at Clyde College gave him an insight into contemporary art and after graduating from HND Contemporary Art, he gained the confidence to take his next step. At this point he decided to combine his two passions, art and nature, which led him to continue his education, this time studying Sculpture and Environmental Art at The Glasgow School of Art.
After graduating, his sculptural work has been recognised and awarded by The Barnbeth Prize, Glasgow Art Club and invited to participate in the “New Contemporaries” exhibition commissioned by The Royal Scottish Academy. He is currently continuing his professionalisation process by producing his own work at Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop.
