**Bill Zachs is an academic and fellow in Scottish Literature studies at Edinburgh University. He has written widely on the Scottish Enlightenment and related subjects including a much acclaimed work on Burns, Beethoven and the folksong. This was the basis of a musical presentation with the same title which he and Katie Carmichael will jointly present.
