Eigg and Rhum from Bunacaimbe, Triptych

This piece was painted over period and worked on from time to time. John makes regular visits to the Arisaig area and works on many pieces in various media in the plein air. This is a studio work which has been created referring to several sketches and other works made on site. Brush, palette knife and trowel have been employed to achieve the variety of textures evident in this winter landscape. An attempt in this large scale work has been made to create the feeling of expanse and depth portraying two of the west coast’s most impressive and distinctive islands.
