About

I am retired (2020) and took up painting in 2018. I started my career as a research scientist (Nuclear Physics BSc PhD) but after deciding I was not going to “reach the top level” as it required too much commitment and more ability than I possessed, I moved into engineering and then IT, ending with about 20 years as a commercial / contracts director in a very large IT company.    I am also a keen Philatelist and have wide collecting interests which includes antique artefacts related to the post. I have exhibited my collections nationally and internationally from time to time (gaining Large Gold or Gold standard) which employs similar skills to painting: a feeling for beauty, good design and importantly understanding how to draw in a viewer look at your work.  I enjoy landscape painting as first preference but do create portraits, figurative subjects and still life.  I use Acrylics, Oils or Pastels.  I have been on many painting holidays in Spain and Scotland and prefer painting outdoors.  I have not exhibited my paintings as of early 2024 but intend to do so at the Glasgow Art Club.
