About

Leslie Deere is a Glasgow based multi-media artist, originally from Tennessee USA. Commissions include sound installations for Royal Botanic Gardens Kew, Sky 1 HD Series Rooftop Rainforest and official London and New York Fashion Week shows. Leslie’s work is in private and public collections and she has a permanently installed sound and light sculpture at the Forever Institut in Geneva.

Leslie’s multimedia practice investigates affect, perspective and altered states. Her work is experiential, minimal and graphic but seeks to elicit evocative encounters and traverses the veil between the abstract and the metaphysical. Deere’s recent work is performative and explores gesture controlled audio-visuals in VR. She recently debuted her new work in a solo show at CCA Glasgow.

Deere holds a BA Honours degree in Sonic Art from Middlesex University and an MA in Communications Art & Design from the Royal College of Art. Her background is in dance and she received a full scholarship to Steps Performing Arts Centre (NYC) prior to her studies in the UK. Currently Deere is a PhD researcher at the Glasgow School of Art.
