Wed 4th May: Artist’s Demonstration – Lynn Howarth

A Two Hour Demonstration followed by Lunch commencing 11am

Glasgow Art Club member Lynn Howarth, one of Scotland’s outstanding pastel artists, has kindly agreed to demonstrate her skills and techniques.  After graduating from Aberdeen’s Grays School of, Lynn worked in the Graphic Design industry prior to becoming a full time practicing artist in 2012.  Since then, her work has steadily gained recognition and is now exhibited by a number of galleries across Scotland.  She is a past winner of the Derwent/WH Smith sketch off prize and, in 2019, was awarded the Piazza Shopping Centre best painting prize  at the PAI Annual Open Exhibition. Her work has also been published in three art books.

Lynn works primarily in pastel and charcoal across a variety of different subject matter –  portraiture, figurative, interior and landscape. She teaches a number of classes at the Centre for Life Long Learning, Strathclyde University as well as a ‘Purely Pastel’ class  in Glasgow and pastel workshops from her studio in Stepps, Glasgow. She is an elected Paisley Art Institute member, a member of the Glasgow Society of Women Artists, a Signature Member of the Pastel Guild of Europe and an Associate Member of the Pastel Society of America.

The demonstration will last for about two hours followed by soup and sandwiches and an opportunity for informal conversation with the artist.
