The Road to Shimshal

Description

Shimshal is a remote village situated 3,100m above sea level in Pakistan’s Karakoram Range some 56km east of the Karakorum Highway and 40km south of the Chinese border.  Until the completion of construction of a road linking the village to the Karakoram Highway in 2001, it could only be accessed on foot. Pictured here is the commencement of the road as it enters one of many steep sided sided gorges cut by the Shimshal River.

Set in a 72mm wide walnut stained frame, protected by non reflective glass.
