Description

Collecting bricks from ancient houses being demolished was the beginning of my artistic work process about the transformation of material.
Bricks of a specific house were ground, and the dust sifted to produce pigments allowing all the weight and earthiness to be released.
Eventually, paint was made from the pigment and applied with brushstrokes on Chinese paper in a performative method, creating an abstract representation of the building just by its pure colour.
This umbra pigment was collected near the town of Mount Wuyi at the site of an ancient kiln in 2007.
The price is for two scrolls, Mount Wuyi Umbra No.1 and Mount Wuyi Umbra No.3.
