Extract from my series “Driven to Abstraction” an exploration of the Scottish Maritime Museum and its environs. Driven by a fascination for surfaces especially those where rust is a factor. This may be in part be a sub conscious connection due to the fact that I have been diagnosed with genetic haemochromatosis, a condition resulting in iron overload in the blood which attacks many of the vital organs and can without treatment be fatal. Otherwise known as the Celtic Curse, this is due to a faulty gene mostly prominent within the Irish diaspora. This condition is under reported an often mis diagnosed. I hope that these comments will raise awareness and encourage further online research for those who read this.
