DAVID MICHIE OBE, RSA – A RETROSPECTIVE EXHIBITION

EXHIBITION RUNS: 20th October – 10th November 2018

To celebrate what would have been David Michie’s 90th birthday this autumn, a retrospective of his work will be on show during a selling exhibition at the Glasgow Art Club.

The 50 paintings and etchings have been put together by his daughters, Alison Wanless and Lindsey Michie, and are the first solo exhibition of David Michie’s work to be held in Glasgow. There will also be a small group of works on display by his mother, Anne Redpath, and his father, James Michie, kindly on loan from family members.

In his self-published book, ‘David Michie – A Sketchbook’, he described his work thus…..’There is not a single enduring theme, except my continuing curiosity for what I have found around me and my responses to the compelling presence of something seen. There are, however, several groups of interest: people, places, gardens, flowers, birds and insects, together with several other odd reflections.’

The David Michie paintings and etchings on display will be available for sale, along with copies of his book and a range of postcards and greeting cards of his work.

A talk by Pamela Robertson on David Michie will take place at the Club on Thursday 08 November. Full details here.
