Ron Kenyon,     Artist’s Statement

I am naturally drawn to details through observations and expression, which is also revealed in my artwork. Recently by painting on location, en plein aire, my painting style is taking on a more impressionist style. When painting on location there are time limits, mainly because of the lighting. Therefore, paining faster and capturing as much information in the time frame results a looser expressive painting. I often return to paint for a second session with the painting. Especially on architectural subjects.

This current painting style works well with my passion for architectural design and history. The American culture is to replace the old with new. This is very evident in the Tucson Barrios. Many of the buildings I have painted in Tucson and Colorado are altered or gone. This is also true with many of my landscape locations where they are now developed.

After living in California, Colorado, and Arizona, I have now landed and living in Glasgow, Scotland. I am looking forward to how the environment and culture will influence my artwork.
