Michael is a contemporary representational artist, his works range in subject; figurative, portraits, and still-lifes. Michael has studied representational painting for 10 years in four schools, his works have also exhibited across Scotland. The Royal Scottish Academy among others have hosted his paintings.

Starting his training at Gray’s School of Art in Aberdeen, Michael gained his first year degree in Painting and then left to continue studying at Duncan of Jordanstone, College of Art and Design at Dundee University, where he gained his degree in Fine Art. He continued his academic drawing education at the Edinburgh Atelier of Fine Art, working with the faculty in Glasgow while establishing The Scottish School of Classical Art. During his degree Michael studied with numerous private tutors trained in Florence, Belgium and the states. His works are in a number of private collections across Britain. Michael was deeply influenced during his training by the old masters, particularly by the ethos and work of 19th century french academic, baroque and rococo movements. He continues his commissioned and personal work, preparing a show for 2021.

Michael has been teaching throughout his academic career, first using his private studio and then founding The Sottish School of Classical Art in September 2019.
