The Glasgow Art Club has existed as a Glasgow institution since 1867, occupying its current 185 Bath Street premises since 1893. Adaption to changing trends over the years has to date served to ensure its continued presence. Currently as a private members club, a hospitality and entertainment venue and an exhibiting gallery space for practicing artists and makers of visual media***.
Members are able to share its stimulating ambience with their friends, relatives and colleagues, utilising its spaces to entertain and meet others free of formality. The Club operates as a registered charity with the stated aims of encouraging and supporting the arts in the West of Scotland. Membership is open to all at a range of rates set to cover operational costs.
The Club has reciprocal arrangements with other similar institutions both in the UK and elsewhere in the world, allowing it’s members to make use of their facilities.
As well as hosting the visual arts, the Club’s spaces can also be utilised by its members for written and performing art activities.
*** Use of the Club by Practicing Artist and Makers of Visual Media to exhibit their works is subject to juried vetting requiring prior submission of three examples of work and supporting statement (more here).
What’s On – December & January
- Holiday – Members Winter Exhibition wash away those winter blues with 110 works submitted by 50 artist plus jewellery by three jewellers. See here for a selection of submitted work. Until 24th January 2026, access times here.
- Artists’ Christmas Fair – Friday December 12th 1pm to 7pm, Saturday 13th 11am to 5pm – original art and beautiful handcrafted gifts, purchase as a gift or indulgence, food and refreshment including mulled wine available. Members no charge, non-members donation of £5.
- President’s Reception Thursday 18th December, evening event for members.
- Jazz afternoon Saturday 3rd January 12 to 6pm
