Amu Darya

Description

The Amu Darya River, known historically as the ‘Oxus’, flows from sources in the Hindu Kush passing from Afghanistan, through Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and then Uzbekistan. Up until the1950s it flowed for some  2,400km draining into the Aral Sea. Owing to over irrigation, this flow is now a trickle into shrunken Aral Sea.  Depicted here approaching Nukus in Uzbekistan.
Set in a 72mm wide walnut stained bevel frame and protected by non-reflective glass.
