Wilma McFadzean Featured Artist
I am a contemporary artist based near Glasgow. The shape and sounds of the beautiful landscape and coastline of the West Coast of Scotland (and beyond) fuel my inspiration.
Following my years as a primary teacher, I spend many hours not only observing what I see but also how it makes me feel, and transforming that into my art.
I am an artist member of Glasgow Art Club, Paisley Art Institute and Glasgow Society of Women Artists. I have showcased my work at several exhibitions including:
- Glasgow Art Club
- Paisley Art Institute
- House for an Art Lover, May Byrne “Colourful Expressions”
- Scottish Circle Art Event for Oxfam
- Edinburgh Tidal Fire Window of Opportunity
- Trades House of Glasgow, Charity Auction for MS Lanarkshire and Cerebral Palsy Scotland
- Kilmacolm Horticultural Society, Charity event for Ardgowan Hospice
- Eglinton Art Exhibition
- Lillie Gallery, Milngavie
- Ukraine Auction. Glasgow Art Club
ARTIST STATEMENT
I experiment with watercolours, oils, inks and mixed media, including hand printed paper and hand dyed recycled fabric. I aim to express my emotional experience and sense of place in my work through texture, colour, mark making, layering, as well as revealing what lies beneath. I continue to develop my skills and interest through various workshops.
