The Glasgow Art Club and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland have had many points of contact over their long histories. Angela Fussell, Archivist of the Glasgow Art Club, and Stuart Harris-Logan, Archives Officer of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, bring together their various collections to explore the shared stories and merriments that have emerged.
Stuart A. Harris-Logan is the Archives Officer of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, and to that end looks after the institution’s historical papers, artworks, research collections and historic musical instruments. A former contemporary ballet dancer, he is a graduate of both the Paris Conservatoire and the University of Glasgow. Stuart is a founding director of the Glasgow New Music Expedition, a trustee of the Thomas Wilson Trust and author of several works on Scottish Gaelic oral culture, mimetic storytelling and early Celtic asceticism.
Angela Fussell is Archivist of the Glasgow Art Club. The Club archives date from the inception of the Club in 1867 and includes Minute Books, Photograph Albums, Membership Registration Albums, Cuttings Books and Visitor Books. Angela is currently focussed on a digitisation programme to preserve and conserve the unique historical records of this renowned Club. Angela also participates in the Art Club Tours and presents an overview of the archives to visitors.
Angela is a graduate of the University of Glasgow, History of Art, M.A. and History of the Decorative Arts and Design, M.Litt. Angela is also qualified in Oral History gathering, trained at the University of Strathclyde Oral History Centre.
Prior to taking up post at the Club Angela worked on the archives of the Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts and was Project Manager on several Oral History Heritage Projects including the highly successful ‘Jeely Jars and Seeing Stars’, a cinema reminiscence project for the Glasgow Film Theatre.
