Description

Collecting bricks from ancient houses being demolished was the beginning of my artistic work process about the transformation of material.
Bricks of a specific house were ground, and the dust sifted to produce pigments allowing all the weight and earthiness to be released.
Eventually, paint was made from the pigment and applied with brushstrokes on Chinese paper in a performative method, creating an abstract representation of the building just by its pure colour.
For this specific project, I collected bricks from the 19th Century ‘German Garden’ house in the old town of Fuzhou whilst it was being demolished in 2007.
The price is for two scrolls, German Garden No.1 and German Garden No.2.
