When Philip Spence retired and closed the doors to his architectural practice, it allowed him to re-open the door to his love of art and painting.
His early works tended to be watercolours, particularly landscapes of Scotland, but very quickly progressed to a wider range of media. Philip’s paintings now focus
on acrylics or mixed media and his artistic expression continues to show his passion for art through his traditional landscapes…..along with some less conventional deviations.
“Painting gives me the opportunity to create a personal contribution to a vision. Every work is an experiment which combines technical and artistic expression. Like an author, when I start, I’m not always sure what the conclusion will be!”
His original work is always on display in The Spence Gallery in Crieff
