Charles Randak
About
Studied at Glasgow School of Art in the early 70’s (well, the late 60’s into the 70’s to be really honest) under John Cunningham for drawing and painting. While there, I got involved in producing material for the Prospectus, helped run the Fashion Show (once at the Art Club) and thoroughly enjoyed the textile department’s trips ‘up north’ under the dutiful eye of the legendary Chuck Mitchell.
Started a design business in Glasgow on leaving Art School (or to be perfectly honest, actually started it while still at Art School)
and sadly, some might say, still doing it. However, having a low boredom threshold, the variety of clients in Scotland, London and Poland means a huge range of work and people to meet – from the corporate giants of Diageo and M&S, the corridors of the Palace of Westminster to ‘Bumble’ in Argyll who produces the world’s most delicious puddings – her real name is Alexandra (don’t ask!)
I always have paintings on the go but output is low due to the energy requirements of my business but they are on display in various locations – the hall, the dining room, the study (etc) with the odd few in private collections.
As a fan of the west coast of Scotland, it is the source of much of my work – although I quite like Venice.
