About

Born and raised in Glasgow, I gained an MA ( Hons) Fine Art from Edinburgh College of Art ( 1989-1994) and continued to The Slade ( 1994-1996) to complete a postgraduate in Painting. Whilst at Edinburgh I was awarded The Valgra Trading Prize for drawing and a John Kinross Scholarship (1994) from the RSA to visit and study in Florence. During my time at The Slade I was a warded a Duveen Travel Scholarship (1995) to travel to Barcelona. The recipient of the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Grant ( Montreal, Canada) twice, I have exhibited in the BP Portrait Award and work is included in the publication 500 Portraits:The BP Portrait Award (2011). I have taken part in Sky Portrait Artist of the Year (2013, 2020) and Sky Landscape Artist of the Year (2015). After my studies I held an artist residence at the Florence Trust Studios, London. I have exhibited widely throughout the UK. Most recently I have been included in the Scottish Portrait Awards longlist, 2020 and 2021.     My art practice revolves around describing my feelings about the world around me, family members, the landscape and still life. Working predominantly from first hand source, I use traditional Fine Art media; painting, drawing and printmaking.
