Catherine King has been printmaking since her graduation from Duncan of Jordanstone Dundee in the 1981. Completing a postgraduate Certificate in Secondary Education in 1982 she has taught briefly in secondary schools then continuously till present in Further and Higher Education specialising in painting and Printmaking.

She has work currently exhibited at The Lillie Art Gallery and Museum, Glasgow art Club,  Scotlandart in Bath St Glasgow and  The Line Gallery Linlithgow,. She has exhibited widely and has had work exhibited in SSA, VAS, PAI, RGI . Her most recent solo exhibition in 2019 in Stirling Smith Art Galley In August 2019,  an exhibition of 60 portraits is a  celebration of of women who have touched her life. A theme which is still a work in progress.

Catherine has exhibited in Mono City japan this year and is taking part in a touring exhibition with Fife Printmakers in collaboration with Japanese Papermakers. These works have visited various Scottish Public Galleries in including the Carnegie Galleries in Dunfermline and Glasgow Printmakers.

Among Catherine’s awards are first prize in Pintar Rapido Glasgow 2015 and the Blythswood Square memorial Quaich from GSWA. Works in Private and Public and private collections include Fife Acute Hospitals Trust, Forth Valley Royal, Hospital and NES.

Her practice is usually inspired by a connection with Place, Family and the Passage of Time. Working from life, both in the studio and plein air, the subject matter can vary but drawing is at the heart of her practice. Experienced across numerous printmaking and painting processes, this vocabulary of skill gives her choice to explore as she sees fit.

Catherine is past GSWA President and Fife (Dunfermline) printmakers Director. She is a former Lecturer in Contemporary Art specialising in Painting and Printmaking at Forthvalley College. She is now a full time Artist, Catherine has been an Artist member of Glasgow Art Club since 2018
