About Alan King

Born in 1946. Trained at the Glasgow School of Art. Taught for 29 years in Renfrewshire and Glasgow schools.

Started painting seriously in 1984 and left teaching to paint full time in 1997.

I am a member of the Paisley Art Institute and the Glasgow Art Club and was elected PAI in 2006.

I have exhibited widely in the UK and am represented by many galleries accross the country.

Many of the paintings contain the theme of the figure in the red hat which has its roots in the Venetian carnivals and has become a trademark. Storytelling and a love of Italian Renaissance art are the basis for the development of my work.

I have work in the collections of the Prudential Insurance Group, Stakis Dunkeld House Hotel Perth, and Costley & Costley Hoteliers Ltd., Lochgreen Troon. Publications Homes & Interiors Scotland.
